A Celebration to honor Micah and Tradition

Ariweta Traditional Raramuri game for females

A wonderful day in the community of Sorichiqui, celebrating and honoring the traditions of Rarajipari and Ariweta, and the 10th year since the ‘last run’ of El Caballo Blanco.

Last year we celebrated and honored Micah’s life and messages on the 9th anniversary of his passing by having a run that retraced backwards the original Copper Canyon Ultramarathon course. Due to Covid we were a little limited in the after celebration just out of extra caution. But this year, we were able to gather the whole community of Sorichique and some friends from nearby Huisuchi as well and have a day of sharing meals, games and traditions, and lots of laughter.

Thanks to Arnulfo for organizing everything in his community. and thanks to all the Messengers who help keep the Korima going in particular our friends at Earth Runners who sponsored this beautiful day of celebration together – we are always grateful for the Korima they share. Viva Caballo Blanco! Viva los Raramuris!
