The Caballitos Run!
GIVING TUESDAY: SPECIAL OPPORTUNITY GIFT FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!
We need your help for the young Caballitos Runners – help us honor and continue the circle of Korima with our Raramuri friends
As you may know, True Messages is a 501c3 nonprofit with an all-volunteer team. While our resources are modest, with your help we have been able to do some great and impactful things in the Sierra continuing the projects of a ‘simple messenger with a powerful message’. Micah True (el Caballo Blanco) started something special in these lands, and we are privileged to carry on his ‘True Messages’ and create opportunities for all who call the Copper Canyons home.
One of our most fulfilling and enjoyable projects is the Caballitos (little horses) Runs at the Ultra Marathon Caballo Blanco. Every year on the Saturday before the Ultra we recognize and support up to 800 young athletes from ages 3 to 15, it’s a magical day just for the kids. They all participate in age division running races of various distances, there is fun entertainment, a party and meal, prizes, gifts, and just a whole day of awesome. These young runners look forward to this day greatly and it is with your help that we are able to be part of making it so special for them every year.
This year we want to also gift these awesome kids a custom designed Caballitos running shirt so they feel just like all the adult runners who receive one for their races.
We’ve been blessed to have the support of 100 Mile Club over the years and still this year the kids will receive a 100 Mile shirt at other runs we have in the Sierra and/or as part of their participation in the project, but we are excited to award them a super cool custom race jersey this year!
A SPECIAL GIFT FOR YOUR HELP!
With up to 800 kids, the party, the prizes, the donations, and the custom shirt, we are hoping for all the help we can get. With every donation over $25 we are going to send you a digital e-book copy of ‘Luna the Frog’ our first Children’s book adaptation of a Raramuri parable that offers great wisdoms from nature and the ancestors. Better yet, if you are in need of some holiday gifts for your kids, nieces and nephews, or grand-kids – with a donation over $100 we will send you a beautifully illustrated printed version of the story! Also, if your resources allow for it this year and you can help out with $250 or more, in addition we will send you a custom Caballitos Poster that is suitable for framing.
Lastly we want to say, if it is possible, the most magical way to support these kiddos is to come on down to the Sierra the first week in March next year and as they finish their run, give them a hug, a high five, and put a medal around their neck. That smile, even when they try to hide it, is worth every minute of the journey it took to get there.
Thanks most kindly, you are appreciated!
