For 10 years or so now the Born to Run ‘family’ has helped sponsor runners from the Sierra Tarahumara participate in the magical experience that is 'Born to Run Ultramarathons. Of course it’s about inspiring and being inspired. It’s about sharing. It’s about being together in celebration of life and running. It’s about Korima and it’s about family.. but you want one real-deal reason to click the link and help make this happen?

There is a kid right now on a rocky steep trail on her two hour hike to school thinking about Lorena Ramirez, or Anthony Ramirez or Miguel Lara and thinking how awesome it is that they are traveling to distance lands to run with others who want to run with them, who celebrate who they are and where they come from, who appreciate the wisdoms their culture has to offer - she is feeling proud to be Raramuri and she is thinking maybe someday I can make that journey too.

It’s not easy to be an indigenous kid in the Copper Canyons of Mexico. They need some folks to look up to, people that come from where they come from and look like they do. Help offer that opportunity and help us get some runners up to join us at the Ranch again this year. These runners really are inspiring, kind, humble, and sharing. Let’s run with them and share some hugs and a beer.

DETAILS: We are looking to raise at least $7,000 to bring 4-5 Raramuri friends from the Sierra to Born to Run this year. Most of the cost frankly is getting here and then getting back. It’s not an easy journey, heck it’s a ‘process’ just to round everyone up together in the van can take a couple days or more. Gas, a couple hotels on the way here and back and some cheap as possible meals cuts hugely into the expenses and what we hope is the ability to put some dollars into the runners pockets so they can then put them right back into the community.
