What is Club Mas Loco?

Club Mas Loco was founded by Micah True (Caballo Blanco) for those who participate in the Ultra Marathon Caballo Blanco (previously the Copper Canyon Ultra Marathon)

Runners of the Ultra Marathon Caballo Blanco are called Mas Locos (Very Crazy). In the eyes of Caballo Blanco, all Mas Locos have in common the values of sharing, respect, compassion and peace. They share a culture of running with the Raramuri (Tarahumara) and offer Korima to the Peoples of the Canyons.

There are three kinds of Mas Loco's:

1. Mas Loco - Those who have completed the Ultra Caballo Blanco . 2. Aspiring Mas Loco - Those who are signed up for the race or have at any time shared or supported the efforts and projects to honor the running culture of our friends in the Sierrra. 3. Honorary Mas Loco - Some of those who contribute to the Ultra Marathon Caballo Blanco as sponsors or supporters are recognize as Honorary Mas Loco.

What it means to be Mas Loco:

A Mas Loco embraces the Raramuri concept of Korima, or unconditional sharing without an attachment or expectation of return - what I have is yours if it is needed. The bonds all runners create when participating in the race and running together in these special lands make a connection that all will never forget. Once a Mas Loco, always a Mas Loco. In these lands we Run Free (Corre Libre) and We Run Together Forever (Juntos Coremos por Siempre)

Micah said something to the effect of “If you think about coming on down to run with us you are a little crazy, if you find a way to make it down here to this magical dusty canyon in the middle of nowhere you are Crazy and if you line up to run this race - you are Mas Loco!” Well now 20 plus years since the first Copper Canyon Ultra things are a little easier to make it down to Urique, and the course is a little more broken in and there is a whole lot more aid stations come race day - but - while truly a (as Micah would also say…) “Beautiful thing” it is not easy, so Mas Loco you are! Also with the addition of the Copper Canyons Endurance Runs, the Micah True Memorial Run and the Backyard Sierra Tarahumara, there are even more ways to be more crazy! there are more waysViva Mas Locos!
